In this Dramatic master piece, Wizard of the crow, Ngugi Wa Thiong’o creates a satire on post colonial African countries. He makes use of the Fictional State of Abulriria as a medium to mirror the happenings in most countries during the early post colonial Africa and sadly some of the issues are still very much present in modern day African countries.
A real page turner, this book will keep you glued with its powerful storytelling. It is filled with visual imagery to transport you, the reader, into the fictional world of Abulriria.
This epic work of magical realism discusses issues ranging from social to political corruption of the African society. Ngugi WA Thiong’o brings the stories of low lives and that of the high and mighty and weave them into a beautiful mosiac. He reveals humanity in its endless surprising complexities.
Although this is work is Fictional, The writer mirrors the African society, and all its malfunctioning structures and policies.
Books like this are highly recommended for all and sundry and it should be taught in schools across Africa.
