Questions for Ada Book Review by The Luminaries Bookclub

The book is a collection of poems by Ijeoma Umebinyuo.

I’ll admit I went into it as a chore. I had no idea it was a book of poems and when I knew it was, I saw it as something to read through because I wasn’t a poem person. I’d read snippets in the past that resonated with me but that was it.

It took me four poems into the book to realize I’d been sleeping for a long time. Her skill with words, the storytelling, and strength behind the words were something to behold.

There were bits that made me laugh out loud, some I agreed and/or disagreed with, and some that were downright sad and emotional. It was a real rollercoaster.

I don't want to exaggerate because this is my first book of poems but it has made me a believer and because of this I would gladly read more. Hopefully they’ll be on par with this or maybe even better. Either way I look forward to them.
