Never Would Have Made It By Melvin Childs Book Review — Samuel Mark
Beware! Spoilers ahead!
This is going be my shortest review yet, or not.
This is the story of Melvin Childs. Also, it is the story of how Tyler Perry rose from being a homeless man to stardom, from Melvin child’s account though. I’m a strong believer of the ‘there is more to this than meets the eye’ school of thought.
I thought I was going to be reading Tyler Perry’s story from Tyler Perry’s perspective and all I got was a grown man complaining like a jilted lover. I almost stopped reading because at some points or every point, Melvin sounded like a cry baby.
Don’t get me wrong, I sympathize with him and applaud him for having the courage to write this, but the story was so one sided and full of conjecture..
‘Arthur knew we were onto something when I called him after the House of Blues run. That whole “y’all just got lucky” thing was just an act. If Baci and Joe Meachem and the other major national promoters heard about what we did in Atlanta, you can bet your ass that Arthur did as well. The only reason he acted like he wasn’t interested was to see if I would let it die so that he could swoop in and take it out from under me right then. When I didn’t fall into that trap, he was stuck, until I called him from the Fox. That gave him the opening he needed. All he had to do was change tactics.’
How did he just figure out it was all planned from the beginning?!
Arthur Primas was the major backstabber if you ask me. How come he doesn’t get to be on the front cover of the book with Tyler? Was this perhaps a marketing strategy for this book?.
Unless I hear from Tyler Perry and Arthur Primas, I take everything in this book with a grain of salt.
I recommend this book for those who are ready to believe anything they read.
